Press statement.
TATA MOTORS LTD is distressed at the limited clarity on the discussions between the government of West Bengal and representatives of the agitator in Singur .In view of the same,Tata Motors is obliged to continue the suspension of contruction and commissioning work at the Nano Plant.
We will reviow our stated position only if we are satisfied that the viability of the project is not being impinged, the integral nature of the mother plant and our ancillary units are being maintained and all stakeholers are committed to develop a long term congeniaal environment
for smooth operations of the plant in Singur.
Mamata Banerjee...There could be confusion within the Tatas, but thats their internal matter, Ther is no confusion within my party.(over the facts that land will come from within the projects
site.)
Nirupam Sen...Our agreement with the Tatas will not be violated. we want to make it clear that during our talks with Mamata Banerjee, the state government had not agreed tio relocate the vendors.
